Question: Why can't I send Email?

This question relates to category Email

Answer:

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like OptusNet and Bigpond do not allow their customers to send e-mail using a third party SMTP server. They do this by blocking port 25 traffic resulting in users experiencing errors like "relaying not allowed" or "relaying denied".

To overcome this you should configure your email client to send email using your ISP's outgoing mail server. Click here for a list of major Australian ISP outgoing mail servers. If your ISP is not listed here you can either contact them or drop us an email and we will be happy to investigate for you.

If you require a reliable and secure outgoing mail server that works no matter where you are, or which ISP you are connected to, why not consider upgrading to our goMail Outgoing SMTP Server.
